“Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better.”

Lydney Harbour is one of my favourite places for a Sunday afternoon walk. Situated on the Severn estuary, this view faces southwards, with the first Severn Bridge in the distance.
I first picked up a camera many years ago now – one of those wonderful single-use cameras that cost £9.99 and had a dial that needed to be wound between shots. I took it on a wonderful trip around the Sculpture Trail in the Forest of Dean and made sure that the entire roll of film was filled with images of beautiful engravings, ornate stained glass and a giant chair.
It may have only been a cheap little thing, but after a week of telling friends of how “cool” some of the things I had seen were, I was able to show them the intricacies of the sculptures, vivid colours of stained glass and prove that I was not lying about the scale of the giant chair!
That’s what photography is to me – a medium for sharing wonderful experiences with those around you. That idea fueled something inside me and developed one step further – Actively seeking out wonderful things to share. That feels pretty special.
